Can you imagine a decades old banyan tree? It’s massive, monumental, and strongly grounded. If you were to cut this banyan tree down which way would you prefer?
a) Cut down the trunk of the tree
or
b) Remove it from the roots?
Both the options are quite difficult, but comparatively, option ‘a’ is easier than option ‘b’. It might take you 2 – 3 days to cut down the trunk of a banyan tree but it will take you more than a fortnight to remove its roots. Any “addiction” is just like a banyan tree. We usually choose option ‘a’ when deciding to quit the addiction. After a few months, any tree slashed from the trunk starts growing again with little buds on the trunk. Likewise, any addiction, if treated at the surface layer, will relapse. At the roots of the addiction are the emotions, beliefs, core issues and thought patterns that contribute to the addiction process and keep the patient falling into a vicious cycle.
There are many advanced therapies and techniques for De-Addiction such as EFT, Matrix Reimprinting, META-Health, META-Healing Process, Advanced Clearing Energetics, NLP, Hypnosis, Time-Line Therapy, etc. I would like to give you information on each therapy, but to start I will share about my favorite, “EFT”.
EFT, “Emotional Freedom Techniques,” is a fast and easy process that can help anyone achieve the freedom from negative emotions and issues that are connected with Alcohol Addiction. EFT roots are in Acupuncture, Kinesiology, Energy Psychology and Mind Body Medicine. EFT is nothing but Psychological Acupressure. Research report a typical success rate of 80% for many conditions. EFT can dramatically relieve emotional disturbances along with many physical symptoms.
“The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.”
Our bodies have current and connections all over and we as humans run on an intricate energy system which is required to live and survive. Negative emotions and pain occurs when energy gets stuck. Energy trapped in nerve channels run through those parts of the body. Unblocking of this energy system can be done by simply stimulating specific meridian points in our body.
It has been observed that EFT relieves symptoms by an unusual tapping on meridian points with finger tips. While focusing on the problem, a release in the flow of energy through the meridian system takes place clearing the physical or emotional pain being worked on by resuming the normal function. By tapping we are sending electrical vibrations throughout the body which in turn releases the negative energy caused by any memories, traumas or thoughts. Sometimes EFT gives permanent results, while in other cases the process needs to be continued. The symptoms can be reduced or eliminated by just repeating the process.
EFT, when used along with powerful questioning like What do you think might be the deeper issue behind your addiction? helps peel the layers of emotions to reach the core issues of a patients addiction. Core issues are formed in childhood or are results of any significant trauma like death of loved ones, etc.
Gary Craig, the founder of EFT states “the true cause of addictions is anxiety, an uneasy feeling that is temporarily masked, or tranquilized, by some substance or behaviour.’
EFT can be used for De-Addiction of Alcohol, Tobacco, Cigarettes; Hangovers, Headaches, Alcohol withdrawal, Low Confidence, Low Self-esteem, Low Self-image, Low Self-worth, Anger Management, Stress, Restoring life’s balance, Weight Loss, etc…
A few common EFT Statements used by clients:

- Even though my family is behind me to quit alcohol, I deeply and completely love myself the way I am.
- Even though I don’t want to quit alcohol but I choose to cut down the quantity of alcohol I drink, whatever it is I love and accept myself.
- Even though I feel guilty after drinking alcohol, I choose to release all the negative vibrations today.
- Even though I have these throbbing headaches the next day, I’m tapping on it.
- Even though I have this excruciating headache now, I love and accept my feelings.
- Even though I have this craving for drinking alcohol after 6pm, I choose to change the pattern today.
- Even though I drink for fun and relaxation, I know I’m good.
- Even though alcohol consumption is the only way to relax myself, I love the way I relax.
- Even though alcohol is the only thing which I can spend my money on, I can imagine the possibility to of beginning to change someday.
