The department of psychiatry at Vivekananda Hospital deals with diagnosis & management of mental disorders/illnesses.

Psychiatric assessment of a person with mental illness is done with help of history, mental status examination. Diagnosis is based on standard diagnostic manuals which include ICD-IO and DSHS.

Psychiatric management includes pharmacotherapy or psychotherapy, in some cases combination of both.
